Ever
since I was a child, music has been the most powerful connection to
inspiration, limitless possibility and passion. My sense of self has
continually been filtered and shaped through my music; my vision of
the world through the lens of music has always been one of beauty and
wonder. I was fortunate to grow up in a musical family. My mother, a
cellist and a teacher started teaching me violin when I was 4 and I
continued to study classical violin and piano through my formative years.
I continued my pursuit of a classical career at the University of Michigan
in the studio of Paul Kantor, Professor of Violin. When I was 19, freedom
and a more expansive world called me. I moved to San Francisco and began
my exploration of rock-based violin. I began an improvisatory during
that time to explore creating music from a more intuitive sense. After
many years of crossing the bridge from classical to improv, right brain
to left brain I have found an area of creation that is purely original
each time I play. I draw my influences from all genres of music, and
the one thread that links them all is that direct connection I feel
to source when I listen and hear a message of inspiration, power, transformation
and love. That message can come in so many sounds, one different each
day, each moment.
I have been fortunate in my work, as a musician to play and record with
many different musical groups. Most notable among those are Bonfire
Madigan, Dolorata, Silveroot, The Goldenhearts, The Valence Project
and Shelley Doty among many others. Each of these groups has incredible
albums for sale which I have contributed to and are all available online.
I have recently recorded a solo album of violin improvisations at Grace
Cathedral on Valence Records which will be released in the summer of
2011. Seven tracks have been pre-released and are available for download.
I am also currently creating music for my own solo rock project which
I will premiere under the name Emily. Thank you for your support and
interest in this site. It is my intention to spread the joy and peace
I have found in my music with you and I send you much love and light
as we are all on this journey together.
